A magnitude 4.0 earthquake shook the Bangladesh capital on Monday night, sending a sudden tremor through Dhaka and nearby districts at around 9:28 pm.
According to Bangladesh Meteorological Department, the tremor originated just 16 kilometres east of Dhaka, with the epicentre located in the Rupganj area of Narayanganj.
The BMD categorised the event as a ‘light’ earthquake.
No immediate casualties or property damages have been reported anywhere in the country following the brief tremor.
