An election preparatory meeting involving around 3,500 members of the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) was held at Joypurhat District Stadium ground on Sunday.

The meeting began at 10:30am and was chaired by Mohammad Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan, District Commander of Joypurhat Ansar and Village Defence Force.

Director General of Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Force, Major General Sajjad Mahmud attended the meeting virtually as the chief guest and addressed the members, reports BSS,

Among others present at the meeting were Akkelpur Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Salma Khatun, Khetlal Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Rubel Islam, Kalai Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Abdul Qadir, Sadar Upazila Ansar and VDP Officer Mahbubuuzzaman, and Pachbibi Upazila Ansar and VDP member Kashem Ali.

District Commander Mohammad Nazrul Islam Bhuiyan said that about 3,500 Ansar-VDP members will be deployed across Joypurhat district to ensure the upcoming election in a free, fair and peaceful manner.
