Police say they have arrested an alleged criminal and top drug trader of Mohammadpur’s Geneva Camp, Md Raja Badsha alias “Pichchi Raja,” from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

He was detained around 7:30pm Tuesday after returning from Nepal with his family, said Jewel Rana, additional deputy commissioner (Mohammadpur Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.

According to police, there are 29 cases against Raja -- three murder cases, seven attempted murder cases, four explosives cases, one Special Powers Act case, one anti-terrorism case, and 13 narcotics cases.

Law enforcers claimed Raja had long been involved in criminal activities, including drug trading, in Mohammadpur and Geneva Camp, establishing dominance in the area through alleged criminal operations.

Police said he had previously been arrested multiple times and produced before courts. After securing bail in earlier cases, he went into hiding but allegedly continued his criminal activities.

ADC Jewel Rana added that law enforcers had been trying to arrest him for several days but initially received information that he was staying abroad.
