Two people were injured in an explosion at an air conditioner repair shop in Dhaka’s Arambagh area on Wednesday evening.

The injured, Tamim, 23, and Billal Hossain Shuvo, 21, employees of the shop, were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital following the incident.

The blast occurred around 7:00pm at “Mutual Refrigerator” -- a shop near Arambagh Wanderers Club.

Arafat Hossain Shawon, a co-worker who took the victims to the hospital, said the explosion happened while they were refilling gas into an AC unit.

Inspector Muhammad Faruk, in-charge of DMCH police outpost, said the two men sustained burn injuries and wounds on different parts of their bodies.

They are currently being treated in the emergency department, he confirmed.

Motijheel police have been notified, he added.
