Several students of Willes Little Flower School and College in Kakrail, Dhaka, on Sunday submitted a memorandum to the chief justice, alleging misconduct by a sitting High Court judge in connection with the humiliation of a teacher.

In the memorandum, the students described an incident that allegedly took place on April 16, 2026, during a Class Ten physics lesson.

The submission followed a protest rally held in front of the judge’s official residence in Kakrail.

According to the memorandum, assistant teacher Dayal Chandra Pal was conducting the class when a student, identified as Naeem Reza, repeatedly attempted to draw his attention to a Bangla-related issue. The teacher reportedly advised the student to consult a Bangla teacher.

The students alleged that when the teacher approached him, the student behaved inappropriately by touching the teacher in a sensitive area. As the class reacted with laughter, the teacher slapped the student on the back in an attempt to restore discipline.

The teacher later informed the student’s guardian—reportedly a High Court judge—about the matter and requested a meeting at the school. However, the students claimed that the judge instead asked the teacher and another school official to visit his residence.

Despite initial reluctance, the teacher and assistant head teacher Md Nasir Uddin went to the residence, where the teacher was allegedly humiliated and pressured to apologise. He later apologised and left.

The memorandum stated that the incident caused the teacher mental distress and embarrassment, and that the matter later became widely known among teachers, students, and guardians.

It also noted that the judge subsequently obtained a transfer certificate for his son from the institution on April 23.

In their memorandum, the students alleged that summoning a teacher to a private residence and subjecting him to humiliation constituted a misuse of authority and a violation of professional dignity and human rights.

They urged the chief justice to investigate the allegations, take appropriate departmental action against the judge, ensure compensation for the teacher, and issue directives to prevent similar incidents in the future.

The memorandum was submitted to Supreme Court Registrar General Mohammad Habibur Rahman Siddiquee by several students, along with written statements from witnesses present during the classroom incident.
