Veteran actor Anil Kapoor has revealed that the secret behind his seemingly boundless energy may actually be rooted in insecurity.

At 69, Kapoor remains one of Indian cinema’s most active and versatile performers, having successfully transitioned from leading blockbuster roles to more nuanced, character-driven performances. Known for his vibrant presence both on-screen and off, the actor recently reflected on what keeps him so driven.

Speaking at a recent interaction, Kapoor said his motivation stems from a deep desire to stay relevant and continue doing meaningful work. “I feel it is my insecurity. I feel that I want to work. If my energy shows in my work or in how I carry myself, the reason is that I want to be there. I want to be relevant,” he said.

The actor added that his enthusiasm is not an act but a reflection of his passion for performing. “My main motivation is that I want to do good work. The director should feel happy. I have to do my best, whatever my capacity is. Maybe I feel I am not good enough and that there are better people out there. I have so much to learn, so I need the fitness and energy to become better and better,” he shared, drawing applause from the audience.

Kapoor was last seen in “War 2”, where he played Colonel Vikrant Kaul. He will next appear in the action drama “Subedaar”, alongside Radhikka Madan. The film also features Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal, Faisal Malik and Mona Singh in key roles.

Produced by Opening Image Films in association with Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network (AKFCN), “Subedaar” is backed by Vikram Malhotra, Anil Kapoor and Suresh Triveni. Directed by Suresh Triveni, who co-wrote the script with Prajwal Chandrashekar, the film is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on March 5 in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
