Ekushey February serves as a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by the language martyrs who gave their lives to protect the Bengali language. The day not only honours their courage but also celebrates the rich cultural and linguistic heritage of Bangladesh. To mark the occasion, television channels across the country have lined up special programmes paying tribute to the martyrs and highlighting the significance of the mother tongue.

BTV

At 12:30 pm, the music programme “Bhashar Gaan” will be aired. Under the musical direction of Piyal Hasan, performers include Piyal Hasan, Sultana Chowdhury, Sabbir, Shabnam Priyanka, and others.

At 9 pm, the drama “Siddhanto”, based on the sacrifices of the language martyrs and the historical backdrop of their struggle, will be broadcast. Written by Kazi Asad and produced by Mamun Mahmud, the cast features Masum Bashar, Kazi Asad, Salman Arafat, among others.

Channel i

At 7:40 am, the programme “Gaan Diye Shokal Shuru” will air a special episode titled “Bhasha Amar Ahankar”. The episode features performances by Surbihar Creative and Performing Art Institute. Under the supervision of Rabindra Sangeet artiste Anima Roy, she and around 20 of her students will perform 12 songs in group and duet formats, inspired by the Language Movement and the spirit of Ekushey.

RTV

At 8 pm, the special drama “Borno” will be aired, commemorating February 21. Written and directed by Imraul Rafat, the cast includes Jovan, Parsa Evana, and Shahtaz Monira Hashem.

Masranga Television

At 8 pm, the drama “Amar Bornomala” will be broadcast. Written and directed by Simanto Sajal, the cast features Tariq Anam Khan, Moushumi Hamid, and others.

Boishakhi Television

Boishakhi Television will air two films today. At 10 am, “Alor Michil” will be broadcast, starring Razzak, Sujata, Babita, and others. At 2:20 pm, “Sipahi” will be aired, featuring Manna, Ilias Kanchan, Champa, and others.

Duronto TV

The special programme “Mayer Bhasha” will be aired at 1:30 pm and 8 pm. The programme features artistes performing choreography alongside patriotic songs and poems in voice-over. It has been directed by Shahadat Setu.

At 2 pm, the drama “Jhutum Pakhir Kotha” will be broadcast. The channel will also air two films: “Manush” at 10 am and “Pathshala” at 10 pm.
