Bangladesh women’s hockey team finished sixth in the Under-18 Asia Cup after a 4-0 defeat to Malaysia in the place-deciding match at the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Hockey Stadium in Kakamigahara, Japan, on Thursday. 

Bangladesh kept Malaysia at bay in the first two quarters before conceding two goals in the third and fourth quarters, respectively. 


Malaysia scored all their goals from open play, with Nurfitrah Shamsudin (36th, 38th) scoring a brace, followed by Nur Mazlan (52nd) and Nur Azli (55th) each scoring once. 

Bangladesh earlier exited the semi-final race of the eight-team tournament, after losing 6-0 to China in their third and final Pool B match on Wednesday. 

In their other games, Bangladesh beat Chinese Taipei by 2-0, after a crushing 12-0 defeat to Japan in their opening match.
