Bangladesh on Monday welcomed the finalisation of a peace agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that the deal would help restore stability in the Middle East and contribute to global peace and development.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh said it had consistently called for de-escalation and resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.

The ministry appreciated the efforts of all parties and facilitators involved in achieving the agreement and expressed hope that it would be implemented in good faith and prove durable and sustainable.

Bangladesh said peace and stability in the Middle East were vital for regional and global peace, security and development.

The country also urged all parties to build on the momentum created by the agreement to address outstanding issues through dialogue and diplomacy, and voiced hope for the early restoration of regional calm, stable supply chains and greater cooperation.
