The National Citizen Party (NCP) has named Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain as its candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation mayor and Nasiruddin Patwary for Dhaka South.

NCP Convenor Nahid Islam announced the nominations at a coordination meeting at the party’s temporary office in Bangla Motor on Sunday afternoon, according to a media statement issued in the evening.

The meeting brought together potential councillor candidates from different wards of the two city corporations.

Nahid instructed the party’s candidates to focus on ward-level civic problems, maintain regular contact with families of those killed or injured in the July movement, and keep a close watch on what the party described as the Awami League’s “sabotage activities”.
