Eight people suffered burn injuries after a pizza oven exploded at a restaurant in Dhaka’s Wari on Friday night.
The incident took place around 10:20pm on the first floor of the Pasta Club Hotel, near Wari Police Station, said police.
The injured are being treated at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of DMCH police outpost.
The injured Jashim, 28, Kamrul, 32, Mostafa, 27, Shah Alam, 30, Yusuf, 21, Mehedi, 30, Abir, 24, and Sourav, 25.
Md Kabir, an owner of a shop adjacent to the restaurant, said the injured are staffers of the diner.
Rashid bin Khalid, duty officer of control room at Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, said two fire engines from Sutrapur Fire Station went to the spot after receiving information at 10:35pm and doused the fire by 11:00pm.
An electrical short circuit caused the explosion, he said.
