The funeral of Mohammad Shrabon, a Bangladeshi expatriate from Bakultala village in Munshiganj Sadar Upazila and killed in a missile attack in Iraq two months ago, was held in his ancestral home on Friday.

The son of Mohammad Noli Mia, Shrabon migrated to Baghdad, the capital of Iraq, about 10 years ago and was killed there when a missile struck during a wartime conflict.

At about 5:15am on Friday, a Turkish Airlines flight carrying Shrabon's body arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. State minister for foreign affairs Shama Obaed Islam was present at the airport to receive the body.

Munshiganj sadar police station officer-in-charge Md Mominul Islam said that the body of the 35-year-old worker, also known as Habi Paik, reached his village home on Friday afternoon—nearly two months after his death.

The Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer and members of local law enforcement agencies were also present at the time.

Following the completion of all legal formalities, his funeral prayers were held on the Bakultala Haji Abdul Karim High School grounds, and his burial took place in the local graveyard at about 3:30pm.
