Following gross mismanagement, crowd trouble, assaults on journalists and failure to pay the agreed share of ticket and sponsorship revenue, the National Sports Council (NSC) on Tuesday revoked the permission granted to AF Boxing Promotion International Limited to use the National Stadium for the AFB Latin-Bangla Super Cup.

The stadium had been allotted to the company for three matches of the tournament, scheduled for December 5, 8 and 11. The event featured a club each from Argentina and Brazil, along with a youth side comprising BFF academy players.

The opening match on December 5 saw instances of crowd mismanagement, but the situation escalated sharply during the second match on Monday when individuals linked to the organisers assaulted several journalists outside the venue. Many spectators with valid tickets were also denied entry, prompting further chaos.

In a circular issued on December 9 and signed by Md. Ruhul Amin, Assistant Director (Sports), the NSC stated: "It is hereby informed that the National Stadium was allocated to AFC Wing Promotion International Limited on December 5, 8 and 11, 2025 for a total of three (03) days for organising the AFC Latin-Bangla Super Cup 2025 football tournament. As per the agreed conditions, the organisers were to submit the full account of ticket sales along with 50% of the ticket revenue to the NSC before each match, and after the match they were required to submit the remaining statements at their own responsibility. This condition has been violated.

"In addition, no positive response has been received regarding payment of the remaining 50% of the dues before the match along with the complete statement of receipts and expenditures. Consequently, overall management of the matches has deteriorated to such an extent that on December 8 several journalists were physically assaulted by unruly individuals associated with the organisers, which is extremely unfortunate.

"Under these circumstances, the match scheduled on December 11, 2025 is hereby kept suspended until further notice."

The match between the clubs from Argentina and Brazil was supposed to be attended by Brazil legend Cafu and Argentina legend Claudio Caniggia, as per previous announcement by the organisers. However, it has been learnt that neither star is coming here as they have not been paid contract money.
