Police on Tuesday recovered the body of a Bangladesh Bank official from his house in Dhaka's Ahmedbagh area of Mugda.

The victim, Tanvir Hossain Shuvo, was an additional director of Bangladesh Bank.

According to police, his partially decomposed body was found hanging inside his apartment after neighbours reported a foul smell coming from the house.

Md Zahid Hossain, additional deputy commissioner (ADC) of Motijheel Division, said locals alerted police after noticing the odour coming from the flat.

A police team subsequently arrived at the scene, broke open the door, and recovered the body.

Police said an investigation is underway, and further details will be available after the completion of the inquest and post-mortem examination.
