Uber has launched an on-demand parcel delivery service in Dhaka, allowing users to send and receive documents, personal items and other eligible packages through its app.
The service, called Uber Parcel, connects customers with drivers for point-to-point deliveries. Users can request an immediate pickup or schedule one in advance, according to the company, states a press release.
Uber said customers can track deliveries through GPS and use a PIN verification system intended to ensure parcels are handed to the designated recipient. The app also allows users to add instructions for pickups and drop-offs.
The company said parcel deliveries will be carried out by drivers using motorcycles, providing an additional category of work for drivers on its platform.
