The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Governing Council is still waiting for reports from BCB's Anti-Corruption Committee's consultant Alex Marshall before finalising the list of both local and foreign players ahead of the players' auction scheduled for November 30.
The council has already supplied two preliminary lists -- featuring 166 local players and 245 foreign players -- to the six participating franchises for Sunday's auction.
However, sources have confirmed that changes are imminent, as Marshall, the former ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) chief, is expected to provide recommendations that the council intends to adopt.
The most notable recommendation is expected to be the exclusion of players who are under significant suspicion for being involved in fixing in the previous BPL as per BCB's inquiry committee's report.
"The BPL Governing Council's stance is that the independent report from the inquiry committee has been handed over to Alex Marshall. When Marshall identifies someone's name for suspicious activity, our responsibility is to inform everyone," BPL member secretary Iftekhar Rahman Mithu told The Daily Star on Friday.
"This is a continuous process. If anyone is suspected during the upcoming tournament, they will be immediately withdrawn," he added.
Meanwhile, several franchises have expressed dissatisfaction after receiving the draft lists, pointing out inconsistencies in player categorisation and auction requirements.
"If you look at the local players' list in categories C and D, you'll see there are only 18 and 19 players respectively. Each team must buy a minimum of three players from each of these categories. That means every player in these categories are guaranteed to be picked," said a franchise official on condition of anonymity.
"There are players in these categories we don't want to buy, at least not at the listed price. So, we raised our concerns to the authorities."
Apart from that, the players who are already picked as direct signings from both local and foreign players' list, are set to be omitted from the final list.
It has been learned that the BPL governing council is expected to deliver the final, revised list to the franchises today -- just 24 hours before the auction.
