Jisan Ahmed, assistant international affairs secretary of Bangladesh Islami Chhatra Shibir’s central committee, was rescued from Cumilla’s Laksam upazila on Friday night, a day after he allegedly went missing from Daudkandi.

Jisan is also a former president of the Cumilla (West) district unit of Islami Chhatra Shibir.

Kamrun Nahar Laily, officer-in-charge of Laksam Police Station, said locals found him in an unwell condition in a field adjacent to Laksam Junction around 10:00pm and informed police.

He was first taken to a local hospital in Laksam and later shifted to Cumilla Medical College Hospital for better treatment, the OC said.

Earlier, Jisan’s elder brother, Russel Ahmed Rafi, filed complaints with police and informed several media outlets that Jisan had gone missing after offering Isha prayers at the Daudkandi Model Mosque on Thursday night.

According to family members, Jisan was last active on WhatsApp at 8:29pm on Thursday. After that, his mobile phone was switched off, and all attempts to contact him failed.

Relatives and acquaintances were also unable to locate him despite extensive efforts, they said.
