Oman has opened applications for registered farmers to hire Bangladeshi agricultural workers under an approved labour recruitment programme.

The initiative is being carried out under approvals from the Ministry of Labour and the Royal Oman Police following an announcement by the Omani Agricultural Association (OAA).

Applications are open exclusively to registered members of the OAA's Al Dhahirah Branch who have cleared their annual membership fee of 25 Omani Rials, or around Tk 8,046, the Oman Daily Observer reports.

Applicants must submit copies of their agricultural holding (hiyaza) certificate, national identity card, valid ministry work permit, and the agricultural cultivation form for the 2026-27 season, detailing crops and cultivated areas.

Submissions will be accepted between Aug 9 and Aug 20 during official working hours from 8am to 1pm at the association's office in Al Murtafa'a, Ibri, the newspaper said.

The association stressed that incomplete applications or those lacking required supporting documents will be rejected.

A Sanad office proprietor told the Observer that an approved quota of 5,000 Bangladeshi agricultural workers is reserved exclusively for registered members of agricultural associations across Oman.

The paper said the allocation will be distributed among governorates, with each governorate or agricultural association eligible to recruit up to 330 workers within the total 5,000 quota.

The initiative aims to assist farmers in meeting seasonal labour demands while maintaining alignment with Omani labour and immigration rules, it added.
