Ulkasemi VLSI Training Institute (UVTI) has introduced a set of specialised training programmes aimed at preparing engineers for careers in semiconductor and VLSI design.
According to a press release, UVTI’s curriculum is structured to reflect industry requirements, with a focus on practical training across areas including register transfer level (RTL) design, design verification, physical design (place and route), digital and analogue layout, and design for testability (DFT).
Between 80 and 90 percent of the coursework involves hands-on use of industry-standard electronic design automation (EDA) tools. Training is delivered by professionals with most courses running for around three months. Classes are held five days a week, amounting to approximately 240 hours of instruction, with some programmes extending up to 480 hours.
At present, UVTI is offering courses in IC mask design and IC physical design. The institute can train up to 150 students at a time, with participants receiving certification upon completion, states the press release.
