The police on Tuesday arrested a madrassah teacher on charges of raping a housewife in Lalmonirhat’s Aditmari.

The accused, Alim Uddin, 26, is a resident of Folimari at Bhelabari union.

He is a teacher at the Salman Farsi Noorani Madrasa in Namuri Chandrapur.

The arrest followed a case filed by the victim on Tuesday with the Aditmari police station.

According to law enforcement authorities and case documents, the incident occurred on Monday at Nadiar Bazar, Sarpukur union.

The accused allegedly entered the victim’s residence and raped her.

Upon hearing the commotion, local residents intervened, cornered the suspect inside the house and detained him.

The locals subsequently alerted the Aditmari police, They arrived at the scene to take the suspect into custody.

Family sources confirmed that the victim is currently five months pregnant.

Nazmus Shakib Sajeeb, the officer-in-charge of Aditmari police station, confirmed the filing of the case.
