Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman on Monday said there is no scope for taking any action outside the legal framework.

“There is no scope for any action outside the legal framework or for crossfire. The existing laws are sufficient to combat terrorism,” he said, UNB reports. 

The minister made the remarks while addressing a views exchange meeting organised by Khulna district administration at the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to discuss improving the overall law and order situation, ensuring good governance and strengthening administrative activities in the district.

He said ensuring public safety and maintaining law and order are the government’s top priorities.

“A zero-tolerance policy must be adopted in maintaining law and order, and the administration must remain vigilant so that people seeking justice receive services quickly and without harassment,” he said.

The minister also stressed the need for coordination between the administration and relevant authorities to improve public services and strengthen governance.

Local representatives and administrative officials briefed the minister on various development activities, expansion of civic services and the current law and order situation in Khulna.

Speaking at the meeting, Asaduzzaman said the government would ensure that law enforcement agencies operate within the existing legal framework.

Earlier in the day, the law minister held a separate views exchange meeting with judicial officers of Khulna at the conference room of the Khulna District Judge’s Court.

He urged judges to expedite the disposal of cases to reduce the backlog in courts.
