Two Iranian female coaches have joined the Bangladesh women's futsal team as the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) stepped up its efforts to revive the discipline ahead of next January's SAFF Women's Futsal Championship.
After a gap of seven years, the Bangladesh women's futsal side will return to international competition when the tournament takes place in Thailand. The team last featured in a tournament in 2018 during the Asian Women's Futsal qualifiers.
Chairman of the BFF Futsal Committee, Imranur Rahman, told the media that Mitra Chinsari has been appointed as assistant coach, while Mehnaz Ashthe will work as the goalkeeping coach. "Both are Iranian coaches and they will stay with the women's team until the SAFF Championship," he said.
Despite the inclusion of two women coaches, Saeed Khodarahmi, who is also in charge of the men's futsal side, will remain as the head coach of the women's team.
Explaining the decision, Imranur said, "Saeed is a highly experienced coach. The tournament schedule allows him to manage both teams as the men's and women's matches are on alternate days. Although it was not mandatory, we appointed two female coaches to ensure adequate support for the women's team. They are both from Iran so that coordination with Saeed is easier."
