A fire that broke out at a restaurant in the Hatirpool area in Dhaka on Tuesday afternoon was doused after an hour of efforts.
The incident occurred at about 2:50pm in the Commissioner Goli area of Hatirpool, said Rozina Akhter, duty officer of the control room at the Fire Service and Civil Defence.
‘Four units rushed to the scene, and the fire was fully doused in about an hour at 3:55pm,’ Rozina said.
The fire was not severe and was brought under control swiftly, preventing any major damage or casualties, she said.
The fire originated at a restaurant named Mayer Doya in the narrow alley, firefighters said.
Witnesses said that the fire might have caused by a gas cylinder explosion.
Rozina, however, said that the exact cause of the fire would be known after an investigation.
