Hasan Mahmud credited Bangladesh's disciplined pace attack and the support of Taskin Ahmed and Ebadot Hossain for helping him produce a career-best six-wicket haul against Australia in Darwin on Thursday.

Hasan claimed six for 55 as Bangladesh bowled Australia out for 198 on the opening day of the first Test at Marrara Stadium, with Taskin and Ebadot taking two wickets each to complete a dominant display by the visitors' three-pronged pace attack.

Rather than viewing his performance as an individual achievement, Hasan pointed to Bangladesh's collective approach and the pressure created from both ends.

“The wicket had a lot of moisture in the morning; it was soft, and there was seam movement,” Hasan said after play. 

“Our plan was to bowl with strict discipline and build pressure through partnership bowling, which is exactly what happened.”

Hasan became the first Bangladesh bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a Test in Australia.

He was also quick to credit the team's preparation and energy after the bowlers took all 10 Australian wickets.

“Alhamdulillah. It is honestly a very challenging moment to bowl against one of the best teams in the world,” Hasan said. 

“However, I think we have practised a lot lately, and preparation-wise, it was excellent. We had plenty of days to prepare, and I believe the bowlers practised really well, which you can see reflected on the field.”

“Overall, the team was very supportive. Taskin and Ebadot, in particular, bowled exceptionally well.”

Hasan's spell helped Bangladesh secure a significant advantage on the opening day, and the visitors strengthened their position further by reaching 96 for one at stumps.
