Listed crime suspect Yeasin Khan, widely known as Kaillya Palash, who was injured in a shooting in the capital’s Rampura on June 12, died at a city hospital early Saturday.

Hatirjheel police station officer-in-charge Md Asaduzzman said that Palash died while undergoing treatment at the Evercare Hospital in Dhaka city at about 1:00am.

Palash, 50, who was released on bail over a month ago, was shot by unidentified attackers in the Rampura area after Jummah prayers and admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.

He sustained two bullet wounds to the head and was later shifted to Evercare Hospital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Detective Branch Tejgaon Division additional deputy Commissioner Abdul Kadir said that the body was sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College for autopsy in the morning.

‘Family took his body at about 1:30pm on Saturday following the autopsy and his namaz-e-janza will be held after Asr prayers in Rampura,’ he added.

Two days after the shooting incident, Palash’s wife, Mahmuda Khanam, filed an attempted murder case with Hatirjheel police station where another crime suspect Jisan Ahmed Monty was also an accused.

Law enforcers have arrested two individuals, Imam Hossain from Badda and Maruf Sultan from the Hatirjheel area over the incident so far.

On June 14, a Dhaka metropolitan magistrate court placed Imam Hossain on a six-day police remand for interrogation.

Imam Hossain was sent to jail on Friday after the end of the six-day remand, which included two days in police custody and four days at the Dhaka detective office on Minto road.

Currently, DMP DB is investigating into the case and the investigation officer of the case, inspector Aminul Islam said that they were trying to find out the actual perpetrators in the incident.

According to jail authorities, Yeasin was released on bail in mid-May this year from Kashimpur Central Jail-1 in Gazipur after completing his life term imprisonment.
