A five-day international group art exhibition titled Beyond the Surface, depicting nature and diverse human experiences, is under way at Gallery MAFA at Lalmatia in Dhaka.
Curated by artist Mahfuza Beauty and organised by the Chironton Art Group, the exhibition features 65 artworks—mostly paintings—created by 21 artists from six countries. The showcase began on Thursday.
The exhibition features 15 senior and emerging artists from Bangladesh, including Wakilur Rahman, Sultanul Islam, GM Khalilur Rahman, Sadia Hussain, Zakia Ferdous, Monira Begum Lipe, Fahmida Khatun, and Mohammd Asadurjaman Aslam Molla.
International participants include American artist Jim Matthew, Canadian Clyde Finley, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Alisa Teletovic, Nepal’s DB Yamphu Kirat, and India’s Manoj Das and Debarati Mukherjee.
The paintings on display were created using acrylic, pastel, oil, and mixed media on canvas, while watercolours, photographs, sculptures, and ceramics are also showcased at the exhibition.
‘By combining diverse media, themes, and styles, this exhibition provides an opportunity to explore the multidimensional forms of contemporary art in a new way,’ Mahfuza Beauty said, adding that although the artists came from different parts of the world, contemporary artistic ideas united them.
Founded by Mahfuza Beauty in 2018, Chironton Art Group has organised six exhibitions and two art camps at home and abroad.
The current exhibition will end on Monday.
