The Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD, a partner of the Ganatantra Mancha, on Sunday announced the names of 170 candidates of the party for vying for the posts of lawmakers in the next Jatiya Sangsad elections, expected to be held in February next year.
JSD general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon announced the names at a press conference in the National Press Club in the capital.
The candidates include the party’s senior vice president Tania Rob for the Laxmipur-4 constituency, Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon for the Feni-3 constituency, Mohammad Siraj Mia for the Noakhali-3 constituency, Sanwar Hossain Talukder for the Sirajgagnj-5 constituency, Mohammad Kamal Uddin Partwoary for the Noakhali-5 constituency, KM Zabir for the Brahmanbaria-6 constituency, Nurul Akter for the Chattogram-3 constituency and Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Montu for the Noakhali-2 constituency.
Addressing the press conference, Tania Rob said that the interim government must hold the next general election in February in a free, fair and credible manner.
‘We want a democratic transition of the country as early as possible,’ she said.
