The government will soon recruit 100,000 health workers to improve the quality of healthcare across the country, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare MA Muhit has said.
During a visit to the Sirajganj 250-bed General Hospital on Thursday afternoon, he emphasised that the health sector has been given the highest priority in the election manifesto.
"To ensure healthcare reaches the grassroots level, we are increasing the budget and will soon recruit 100,000 health workers," Muhit told journalists.
He noted that these workers will receive advanced training to provide improved medical services.
Aside from ensuring the supply of necessary equipment and medicines to health centres, the ministry will strictly monitor whether health workers remain at their duty stations regularly.
The state minister also directed all physicians to be consistent in attending to patients at their offices.
"Every citizen should consider these hospitals as their own. If you see any irregularities, everyone must stand united and protest," he added.
Muhit also promised that the trauma centre built alongside the highway in Sirajganj would open soon.
