Bangladesh wrapped up their final assignment of the year in commanding fashion as Tanzid Hasan, Rishad Hossain, and Mustafizur Rahman orchestrated a dominant eight-wicket win over Ireland in Chattogram, sealing the T20I series 2-1 after trailing 1-0.
What began as a tense decider swiftly transformed into a showcase of Bangladesh’s growing confidence in the shortest format.
Ireland, having chosen to bat, burst out of the blocks with Paul Stirling leading the charge. The captain’s lively 38 off 27 balls powered the visitors to 50 for 1 inside five overs, hinting at a sizeable total. But the promise evaporated almost instantly.
The slide began with Harry Tector’s dismissal to Mustafizur, and from there the left-arm pacer and legspinner Rishad dismantled the innings with ruthless precision. They split six wickets—three each—while Shoriful Islam provided support with two timely strikes. Ireland plunged from 50 for 1 to 73 for 5, losing their structure and eventually folding for 117 in 19.5 overs.
A historic subplot unfolded in the field: Tanzid Hasan became the first outfielder from a full-member nation to pouch five catches in a T20I, expertly patrolling long-on for four of them and snatching one sharp take at gully. His work ensured no Irish late push materialised.
Bangladesh’s chase began in a measured blaze. Saif Hassan cracked 19 before falling, and Liton Das departed cheaply soon after, leaving the hosts at 46 for 2 near the end of the Powerplay. But from there, the match belonged entirely to the left-handed duo of Tanzid and Parvez Hossain Emon.
Tanzid, continuing his exceptional night, controlled the innings with crisp strokeplay, raising his 11th T20I fifty off 35 balls. He finished unbeaten on 55 off 36 deliveries, striking four boundaries and three sixes.
Emon complemented him perfectly, accelerating as the Irish bowling wilted under pressure. His swivel-pulled boundary off Craig Young sealed the victory—119 for 2 in just 13.4 overs, with a stunning 38 balls unused.
Sloppy Irish fielding, inconsistent lengths, and the relentless composure of Bangladesh’s young core defined the evening. Handshakes followed quickly. The series belonged, emphatically, to Bangladesh.
