The Ad-din Medical College Hospital authority has challenged Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain to prove his allegations that they attempted to bribe him.

“Why would I follow him [the minister] with money? I did not follow him with money. The minister has to prove it,” said Sheikh Mohiuddin, executive director of Ad-din Foundation, which runs the hospital.

He also said they will file an appeal tomorrow against the Directorate General of Health Services’ decision to cancel the hospital’s licence over the deaths of six newborns last month.

He added that they have formed an expert committee to take corrective measures in the hospital’s infrastructure.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain on Saturday alleged that the authorities of Ad-din Hospital had attempted to bribe him.

“[People from] Ad-din Hospital followed me around with crores of taka… I was not tempted. The prime minister told me, ‘Whatever action you take, you will have my full support.’ I have therefore cancelled the hospital’s licence,” he said while speaking at a programme in Narsingdi.
