Bangladesh women continued their impressive run in the Junior Asia Cup, securing their second consecutive victory with a 5-1 thrashing of Pakistan in China today.

After opening their campaign with a 7-0 demolition of Chinese Taipei, the Bangladesh Under-20 side once again produced a commanding performance to move to the top of the Challenger Pool with six points from two matches.

At the Moki Training Ground, Nupur put Bangladesh ahead with a field goal in the ninth minute before Nadira Ema doubled the lead in the second quarter.

Pakistan tightened their defence thereafter, but Bangladesh continued to dominate proceedings. Sarika Rimon extended the lead in the 33rd minute, converting a penalty stroke to make it 3-0.

Pakistan pulled one back through Sarika in the 41st minute, but Bangladesh quickly restored their three-goal cushion. Kona Akter found the net in the 43rd minute to make it 4-1.

Irene Akter completed the rout in the 57th minute, scoring from a penalty corner to seal Bangladesh's second straight win.

This is Bangladesh's second appearance in the Junior Asia Cup. They finished ninth in the 2024 edition, while defending champions India are the current holders of the women's title.

The 10-team tournament is divided into two pools. Bangladesh are in the Challenger Pool alongside Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Chinese Taipei and Hong Kong. Hosts China, Japan, India, South Korea and Malaysia make up the Elite Pool.

The top three teams from the Challenger Pool and all five teams from the Elite Pool will advance to the quarter-finals. The fourth- and fifth-placed teams in the Challenger Pool will contest the ninth-place and 10th-place classification match.
