Canva has announced that its professional design app, Affinity, is now available free of charge. The software integrates photo editing, graphic design, and page layout tools in a single platform.
According to the company's announcement, the free version provides full access to all features without restrictions. New capabilities include Image Trace, ePub support, mesh gradients, hatch fills, and a live glitch filter. Users can also customise their workspace by rearranging panels and combining tools to create personalised studio layouts. These custom workspace configurations can also be shared with other users.
Users with Canva premium subscriptions can access additional AI tools within Affinity, including Generative Fill, Generative Expand, and Generate Image/Vector features. The company emphasised in the announcement that user creations will not be used to train AI models without explicit consent.
The software maintains compatibility with industry-standard file formats, including Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign documents, and will receive regular updates at no cost. Affinity is currently available for Mac and Windows, with an iPad version in development.
