A couple and their two children were found murdered in Naogaon’s Niamatpur upazila.

The deceased were identified as Habibur Rahman, 32, of Bahadurpur village; his wife Popy Sultana, 25; their son Parvez, 9; and their three-year-old daughter Sadia Akter.

The parents were found with their throats slit, while the children’s bodies bore head injuries, Officer-in-Charge of Niamatpur Police Station Mahbubur Rahman told The Daily Star.

The incident is believed to have occurred around midnight today, the OC said, adding that the motive behind the killings has yet to be confirmed.

Local neighbours said it is not known who carried out the attack under the cover of night. After Fajr prayers, seeing the door open, neighbours entered the house and found the bodies. Police were later informed and arrived at the scene.
