The National Citizen Party has inducted six more leaders into its Political Council, expanding the party’s highest policymaking body to 18 members.
According to a press release issued Thursday night, the new members are joint convener and reserved woman seat lawmaker Nusrat Tabassum, joint convener Sarwar Tusher, joint convener Ali Ahsan Junaid, joint member secretary Akram Hossain, joint member secretary Saleh Uddin Sifat and joint chief organiser and reserved woman seat lawmaker Mahamuda Mitu.
The party said that the appointments were made on the instructions of NCP convener Md Nahid Islam and member secretary Akhter Hossen.
With the latest expansion, the political council of the party now consists of 18 members.
Earlier, Kurigram-2 lawmaker Atik Mujahid and Narayanganj-4 lawmaker Abdullah Al Amin were inducted into the body. The NCP was formed in February 2025 by leaders of the July uprising that ousted the authoritarian Awami League government on August 5, 2024.
