The Duffer Brothers have brought a meaningful figure from their past into the world of Stranger Things, casting their high school drama teacher, Hope Hynes Love, in Season 5 of the hit Netflix series. Love appears as Miss Harris, a teacher at Hawkins Elementary School.
Announcing the news on Instagram, creators Matt and Ross Duffer paid tribute to the teacher who helped shape their creative lives. "High school was rough for me and my brother," they wrote. "But Hope saw something in us we didn't see in ourselves — and she helped give us the confidence to not only survive those four years, but to move to LA and chase our dreams."
They continued with a message for educators everywhere: "Shoutout to all the teachers out there making a difference. And please… let's prioritize the arts in schools."
In "Stranger Things" Season 5, Volume I, Miss Harris is introduced as an elementary school teacher who once directed the Hawkins teens who are now battling Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower).
The first four episodes of "Stranger Things" Season 5 are now streaming on Netflix. Volume II arrives on Christmas Day, with the series finale set to release on New Year's Eve.
