The government is not considering investigating those who assisted ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina in leaving the country on August 5, 2024, Information and Broadcasting Adviser Zahed Ur Rahman said today.

Responding to a question at his weekly press briefing at the Secretariat, Zahed described Hasina's departure as "part of a package."

"In the history of mass uprisings around the world, this kind of incident has happened," he said. "We wanted to be free from her. Along with that freedom, these matters were part of it."

He said the government was not considering an investigation "at this moment" into who had helped Hasina leave the country. He added that the issue should be viewed in the context of the circumstances at the time.

At the briefing, Zahed also warned that the government would take necessary action if Bangladeshi media broadcast Hasina's statements in violation of a court order.
