The students of the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies at Dhaka University staged a theatre production titled ‘Tabula Rasa’ at the university's Natmandal on Wednesday.

The performance was designed and directed by Ahmedul Kabir, a professor of the department.

Tabula Rasa was constructed as a theatrical coalescence using selected scenes from three of Henrik Ibsen’s plays — A Doll’s House, Peer Gynt and The Wild Duck.

Performed by the MA 1st semester students of the department, the production used ensemble body movements, music, and space with minimal settings.

The theatre depicted the essence of the works of Ibsen, a major Norwegian playwright of the late 19th century who introduced a new order of moral analysis to the European stage.

Dhiman Chandra Barman and Naved Rahman designed the lighting at the stage, while the music was composed by Naved Rahman and Jadid Imtiaz Ahmed.

The movement was choreographed by Amit Chowdhury, while the instruments were played by Manohar Chandra Das. Costumes, masks, and props were designed by the MA 1st semester students.

The production premiered on Tuesday at the same venue, and the third show of ‘Tabula Rasa’ will be staged there today.
