A football fantasy that once seemed impossible could become reality: Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo may finally pull on the same shirt, according to media reports.

Carlos Tevez, who knows both superstars from very different chapters of his career, is hoping to make it happen at his long-awaited farewell match in December, Goal.com said.

The Argentine spent three seasons alongside Ronaldo at Manchester United and later played with Messi for Argentina.

Now 42, Tevez plans to bring the pair together for a glittering send-off at Boca Juniors’ legendary La Bombonera, with around 60 prominent players expected.

“We will bring them together,” Tevez said on streaming platform Olga, according to Goal.com.

Tevez has even volunteered to personally secure Ronaldo’s appearance. He said he remains in contact with both players on WhatsApp and, when asked if he would persuade Ronaldo to join, replied: “I will personally go and get him.”

A reunion would add another chapter to one of football’s defining rivalries.

Messi and Ronaldo have collected 13 Ballon d’Or awards between them, with Messi winning eight and Ronaldo five.

Both remain active well into their late careers. Messi, 39, continues to play for Inter Miami and remains a World Cup winner with Argentina, although he has recently announced his retirement from international football.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, continues to lead Al-Nassr in Saudi Arabia while pursuing the extraordinary target of 1,000 career goals.

The Portugal captain has also hinted that the current season could be his last.
