Noakhali Express head coach Khaled Mahmud and assistant coach Talha Jubair boycotted training on Thursday midway through the session and left the training facilities upset at management over shortage of proper facilities.
There was a shortage of cricket balls at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground in Noakhali's session today. Just 24 hours before the start of the tournament, with Noakhali slated to play Chattogram Royals in the evening fixture on Friday, the Noakhali coaches walked out of the practice session.
Earlier today, BCB took over the Chattogram Royals franchise following a withdrawal letter submitted by the franchise owner as the tournament appeared to be unraveling a day before the start. Video showed the veteran coach Khaled Mahmud telling media 'not feeling like it, won't be doing BPL', before departing the venue.
"An official behaved badly with the coach and he was upset. Mainly there were not enough balls during the practice session and due to some mismanagement, the coaches were upset," a Noakhali source informed.
Sources added that the franchise were trying to procure new balls but it could not be surmised whether the situation would be resolved later in the day. Apparently only three balls were given by the franchise for the session.
Player payment issues plagued the last BPL and already inconsistencies relating to franchises' ability to maintain a professional atmosphere is being questioned after the day's developments.
