HBO's acclaimed anthology series "The White Lotus" has secured the number one position on IMDb's list of the most popular series of 2025, surpassing global hits including "Squid Game", "Wednesday", and "The Last of Us".

Created by Mike White, the satirical drama first premiered on HBO in 2021 and has since captivated audiences with its sharp social commentary, dark humor, and visually stunning cinematography. The anthology series unfolds across different luxury resort locations, examining the intersecting lives of privileged guests and the staff serving them while exploring themes of wealth disparity, power dynamics, and human complexity.

IMDb announced the rankings based on user popularity metrics, with HBO's post-apocalyptic drama "The Last of Us" claiming second place and Ben Stiller's psychological thriller "Severance" landing in third position. "Based on #IMDb user popularity, here are the Top 10 Series of 2025. What were your 10 favorites this year?," the platform posted on X alongside the featured list.

The remainder of the top 10 includes Netflix's supernatural series "Wednesday" in fourth place, followed by the Korean survival thriller "Squid Game" in fifth and "Dexter: Resurrection" in sixth. 

"The White Lotus" has earned significant recognition from the Television Academy. Season 1 received 11 Emmy nominations at the 74th Primetime Emmy Awards, winning five awards in limited or anthology series categories. Season 2 garnered 12 nominations at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards, with the show transitioning to compete in drama series categories. Jennifer Coolidge won Outstanding Supporting Actress for her memorable performance across both seasons.

Composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer has created the distinctive theme music for all three seasons of "The White Lotus". De Veer also composed the soundtrack for the 2024 film "Babygirl".​​​​​​​​​
