The fire that broke out at a 11-storey building in Dhaka’s Banani area this evening was brought under control after nearly three hours.

Eight fire engines went to the the spot and brought the blaze under control around at 8:15pm, said Inspector Anwarul Islam of Fire Service and Civil Defence media cell.

On information of a fire at building number 44 on Road 12 around 6:30pm, two fire engines were first dispatched to the site at 6:45pm.

The building houses several clothing brands. The fire broke out at an outlet on the seventh floor.

The cause behind the fire could not be known immediately.

There were no reports of casualties in the fire, he said.
