To welcome the monsoon, various cultural organisations are celebrating ‘Barsha Utsab’ across multiple venues in Dhaka today, marking the first day of the Bangla month of Asharh.

Cultural organisations, including the Barsha Utsab Udjapon Parishad, the central branch of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi, and the Udichi Dhaka unit, are organising separate events across Dhaka.

Barsha Utsab Udjapon Parishad’s event, titled ‘Barsha Utsab 1433,’ will begin at 7:20am at the Central Shaheed Minar in the capital, opening with a vocal performance of raga ‘Joy Jayanti’ by promising singer Minhazul Hasan Emon. The event will comprise music, dance, recitation performances, and a discussion performed by renowned artistes of the country.

Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi will organise an event at the Nazrul Mancha of Bangla Academy at 7:00am while the Udichi Dhaka unit will organise another event at Rabindra Sarobar in Dhanmondi at 6:30 am.

Udichi has been organising the annual festival since 2009 to celebrate the arrival of the monsoon, which symbolises rejuvenation, vitality and the regeneration of life in Bangladesh’s seasonal landscape.
