Bangla Academy published a list of stalls at the forthcoming Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2025 on Thursday.

This year 85 new stalls have been added but some publishers demand review of the decision of allotted pavilion.

According to the allocated list, more than 10 publishing houses have been left out from the list of pavilions and some pavilions received less space than past year.

‘On Sunday, we have received a 10-point demand from a group of publishers to review the decision on the allotted pavilions. We will discuss the demands at the forthcoming executive committee meeting,’ said the member secretary of Book Fair 2025 organising committee Sarkar Amin.

CEO and Publisher of Agamee Prakashani Osman Gani said that Subichar Prottashi Prokashakbrinda demanded the fair committee implement their demands by January 15, the last date for registration.

‘It’s clearly a planned action against the creative publishers of the country that will affect goodwill of the traditional Amar Ekushey Book Fair. We also demand neutral investigations regarding these issues,’ said Osman Gani, a representative of the publishers’ platform.

Representatives from other publishing houses under the platform including Annya Prokash, Somoy Prokashon, Kakoli Prokashoni and Anupam Prakashani were present on Sunday at the academy to handover a letter with the demands, said Osman Gani.

Member of the management committee Saeed Bari said that the academy allocated stalls instead of pavilions to some publishers for the forthcoming fair as it was alleged that some of them used political influence to gain excessive privileges from the previous fascist government.

He also mentioned that the Journeyman Books did not apply for a stall this year.
