The National Citizen Party (NCP) has appointed BNP-expelled leader Ishak Sarker as convener of its Dhaka metropolitan south committee.

SM Shahriar has been appointed member secretary of the committee, according to a press release issued today, signed by NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossen and spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain.

It said the previously formed Dhaka metropolitan south convening committee had been restructured, keeping its original tenure unchanged.

The reconstituted partial committee has been asked to form a full committee and submit it to the party office within one month.

Ishak formally joined the NCP on April 24. He was a former organising secretary of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal central committee and a former organising secretary of the Jubo Dal central executive committee.

On February 4, a week before the 13th parliamentary election, the BNP expelled him from all party posts, including primary membership.

He later contested the election from Dhaka-7 as an independent candidate with the football symbol and secured 11,517 votes.

NCP’s Dhaka metropolitan south committee Member Secretary SM Shahriar was the party-nominated candidate from Dhaka-5 constituency.
