Amir of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and leader of opposition in the parliament Shafiqur Rahman on Saturday said that they wanted a system in which the son of a worker could head the government or the state.
To let that happen, the state must ensure an education system that would create opportunities for a worker’s son to get higher education that would eventually enable him to become prime minister or president, Shafiqur said while speaking at the opening session of biennial national conference of Jamaat’s labour wing Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Federation at Suhrawardy Udyan.
‘We have failed to create such a country even after 54 years of independence,’ Shafiqur said.
Chaired by labour leader ANM Shamsul Islam, Jamaat secretary general Mia Golam Parwar, labour leaders Mujibur Rahman, Atiqur Rahan, National Citizen Party convener Nahid Islam, Jaiya Ganatantrik Party spokesman Rashed Prodhan, among others, spoke at the opening session.
The opening session would be followed by a council session to elect a new central committee of the organisation.
