Gold prices in the local market have been reduced once again.

The price of the highest quality 22-carat gold has been cut by Tk6,590 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new price to Tk251,184 per bhori.

The price adjustment comes following a decline in the price of refined gold (pure gold) in the local market.

The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) said the new rates will come into effect from 10:45am on Monday.

The decision was taken at a meeting of Bajus’ Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. The information was later confirmed in a notice signed by the committee’s chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.

Earlier on Sunday night, Bajus announced a reduction of Tk1,925 per bhori, effective from Monday. However, within a few hours of that decision coming into effect, another price cut was announced on Monday morning.

Under the new rates:

  • 22-carat gold: Tk251,184 per bhori
  • 21-carat gold: Tk239,754 per bhori
  • 18-carat gold: Tk205,520 per bhori
  • Traditional method gold: Tk168,195 per bhori

Meanwhile, despite the fall in gold prices, silver prices remain unchanged.

Current silver prices per bhori are:

  • 22-carat silver: Tk7,290
  • 21-carat silver: Tk6,940
  • 18-carat silver: Tk5,949
  • Traditional method silver: Tk4,432
