Gold prices in the local market have been reduced once again.
The price of the highest quality 22-carat gold has been cut by Tk6,590 per bhori (11.664 grams), bringing the new price to Tk251,184 per bhori.
The price adjustment comes following a decline in the price of refined gold (pure gold) in the local market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) said the new rates will come into effect from 10:45am on Monday.
The decision was taken at a meeting of Bajus’ Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring. The information was later confirmed in a notice signed by the committee’s chairman, Dr Dewan Aminul Islam Shaheen.
Earlier on Sunday night, Bajus announced a reduction of Tk1,925 per bhori, effective from Monday. However, within a few hours of that decision coming into effect, another price cut was announced on Monday morning.
