BRAC Kumon recognised 3,413 students for progressing beyond their school grade level at an award ceremony held at BRAC University.

The “BRAC Kumon ASHR 2026 (Advanced Student Honour Roll)” event was organised in two sessions at the university’s multipurpose hall, says a press release.

Students from Dhaka and Chattogram were honoured for their academic progress through the Kumon Method.

The programme was attended by State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj and Japan’s Ambassador to Bangladesh Saida Shinichi.

Asif Saleh, executive director of BRAC and chairperson of BRAC Kumon, chaired the event.

Speakers highlighted the importance of improving learning outcomes and strengthening collaboration between government and private initiatives.

Bobby Hajjaj said efforts are ongoing to enhance the quality of primary education in Bangladesh.

He noted that understanding effective learning methods could support broader improvements in the education system.

Ambassador Shinichi said the recognition reflects students’ achievements and growing confidence.

Asif Saleh said the Kumon Method helps students develop independent learning skills.

He said such skills are essential for adapting to change in a competitive world.

Organisers said students in the programme are studying mathematics and English one to five years ahead of their school grade level.

The event also featured cultural elements inspired by Japanese traditions.

BRAC Kumon currently operates 35 centres across Dhaka and Chattogram, serving nearly 10,000 students.

The organisers said the initiative aims to expand access to quality education and promote long-term learning skills.
