The International Crimes Tribunal-2 (ICT-2) today accepted the statement of late Sharif Osman Hadi as evidence in a crimes against humanity case against Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader and six other leaders of the party and its affiliated organisations.

A few months before his death, Hadi told the investigating officer in the case that he had been receiving repeated death threats.

On February 18 this year, the tribunal accepted his statement as formal testimony following a prosecution petition.

Hadi, spokesperson for Inqilab Moncho, in the statement, spoke about the role of top Awami League leaders in the killings of unarmed protesters during the July Uprising.

He gave the statement on October 6 last year as a prosecution witness in the case.

Hadi was shot on December 12 last year while travelling by rickshaw in Dhaka’s Paltan. He died on December 18 in Singapore while undergoing treatment.
