A truck driver was killed and three others were injured in two road accidents on Dhaka-Mawa Expressway at Shreenagar upazila in Munshiganj on early Monday.

Shreenagar Fire Service station officer Dewan Azad Hossain said that two trucks collided in front of Dogachhi Cantonment at about 2:00pm.

‘Driver of one of the trucks, Md Hossain, 35, got trapped inside his vehicle in a critical condition. Later fire service members rescued him and took him to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead,’ the fire service officer said.

The body was kept at the Highway Police Outpost.

In another accident, three people were injured as two buses and a car collided in Shomospur area of the upazila at about 3:00am.

The injured are Md Toufik Siddiq, of Bogura, Sinthia of Faridpur, and Hamida of Sirajganj.

Fire service officials said that the accidents created huge traffic congestion on both sides of the expressway, causing sufferings to people during the busy time ahead of Eid.

Traffic in the area became normal in the morning.
