President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Tarique Rahman offered Eid-ul-Azha prayers along with hundreds of devotees at the National Eidgah this morning.
They offered prayers in the day’s first Eid congregation, held at 7:30am at the National Eidgah ground, said the President’s Press Wing.
After the prayers, they joined a munajat with the devotees, seeking blessings from the Almighty for the Muslim Ummah as well as the nation.
The chief justice, cabinet members, Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) administrator, judges of the Supreme Court and High Court, members of parliament, political leaders, diplomats, and high-ranking civil and military officials joined the Eid jamaat.
Khatib of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque Mufti Muhammad Abdul Malek conducted the Eid prayers.
A special munajat, seeking divine blessings for peace, progress, and prosperity of Bangladesh, as well as the welfare of its people and the Muslim Ummah, was offered after the prayers.
The president exchanged Eid greetings with the prime minister, his cabinet colleagues, and a cross-section of people after the prayers at the Eidgah.
Like previous years, the Eid congregation at the National Eidgah ground was held under the supervision of the DSCC. Special arrangements were also made for women devotees at the National Eidgah.
Meanwhile, intensified security measures were taken in and around the Eidgah premises.
